Hello. Come right in and make yourself at home here at my blog, saltfish & Lace.  My name is Rochelle.  Let not the face fool you. I  am a thirty-something woman just working on bringing my talents and dreams to life, helping others, crafting a life that is simple, purpose-driven and natural and working on my relationships, especially the one with God Almighty. I live in St. Martin, south side and am an entrepreneur, poet, mentor, and investor.

My Style Philosophy

Your personal style is not set in stone. It changes and that can be frustrating at the beginning. The temptation to dig a six-foot debt hole just to splurge on a whole new one can be alluring, but sometimes, all your wardrobe needs is a fresh pair of eyes and some creativity. The blog is an opportunity for petite Afro-Caribbean (or any African ancestry) women to give their wardrobes a second chance of redemption while rebuilding and defining their personal styles.

​I don't just eat anywhere on St. Martin or in the world, for that matter. Because I want MORE from my dining out experiences: the ambiance, presentation and service are crucial. At the end of it all, the food is number one. I want to be wowed. I'm sure you do too.

My Travel Philosophy

Wanderlust begins at home. Take a walking tour through local Caribbean street photography and charming Caribbean homes or just pack your internal suitcase and travel must-see places with me. No worries , the trail I left is filled with travel tips and ideas to enrich your traveling experiences.

I love St. Martin! I enjoy taking note  of its quiet and resilient aspects of culture and history like vintage houses, powerfully beautiful trees (flamboyant) and the creative achievements of its people.  

Random Facts About Me

• I would wake up an hour before hand just to avoid traffic.
• I've studied in New York and Trinidad, but chose to return home.
• I am an advocate for self-acceptance, entrepreneurship, women empowerment.
• I  read cookbooks and dictionaries like novels and play Scrabble a bit too much (word junkie).
• I'm low maintenance and believe that beauty is unique.
• I don't own a TV; it sucks up a lot of  time and no longer watch Netflix.
• I dream of publishing my short story collection and poetry collection soon. (Mission accomplished)
• April is my birth month and the diamond is my birthstone, best one  ever.
• My aloe, tarragon and onion chives are the beginning of a kitchen garden. 
• I'm a lover of the food-process: from growth to pan to stomach.
